I’m Not Sorry – Honoring My Downtime

Listen to the podcast

While I wouldn’t label myself an ‘over apologizer,’ I seem to constantly apologize for not getting back to people fast enough. I almost always reply within 24-48 hours of the original contact, yet somehow that doesn’t feel good enough to me, or them.

I can trick myself into feeling like any break I have should be utilized to acknowledge all of those emails, calls, and messages that pour in throughout the week. But then that break isn’t downtime, and downtime is the space I purposely create for restoration, peace, and perspective.

This month I’ve made a mindful decision to stop writing or saying “I’m sorry,” when I get back to people. The, “So sorry your cat died” sorries, I’m ok with. It’s the, “So sorry I’m not good enough” sorries, that I’m going to work on eliminating entirely. Let’s see how it goes.

I would love for you to join me as I work to undo these old patterns and evolve to create a more serene and accepting existence. (And you should know that I still want to ear flick the little knuckleheads {this includes my husband} when they don’t rinse a dish before putting it in the dishwasher — always a work in progress.)
