Happy Fend For Yourself Day!

Listen to the podcast

Team, I think this is the very first time since we’ve been celebrating the best holiday of the year that it’s actually fallen on a Friday, Confessions post day. I want to wish all of our TeamConfessions Family a happy, happy Fend for Yourself Day. Enjoy the peace, revel in the relaxation, embrace the restoration—permission granted to only leave the couch to use the bathroom or restock snacks. Next week, on January 2nd, we’re going to be kicking off our 30-day invitation to create more positive self-talk in our lives. If you’d like more information on that Confessions family fun, please click the link in the show notes to hear last week’s episode.

And if any of you already jumped into the self-talk work and started becoming more mindful of your repeated critical phrases, the next step is to edit them in the moment. Shad explains that a phrase like,  “I just can’t seem to get organized today,” quickly gets edited to, “I am organized and in control, today especially.” Whether you believe that phrase right now or not doesn’t matter. Helmstetter reminds us: it begins with the edit. The subconscious will catch up in time if the positive replacement statement is repeated enough.

Here’s a little Fend For Yourself Day self-talk reframe Team:

“I’m so lazy. I haven’t gotten off of this couch all day!”
Can become…
“My body, mind, and spirit are asking to be recharged and I’m choosing to listen. This couch is my charging station—and today—this train is not leaving the station!”

Sending love to everyone. Safe travels for those of you moving about throughout this next week, and happy, happy new year!

And now a quote from Ferris Bueller:

“You’re still here? It’s over. Go home. Go.”

Have a Happy Happy Fend For Yourself Day Team! Take care!
