That question was posed to me last week. Last week when, due to the rainstorm in the northeast, I was managing a lot of extra bologna on my plate. Then, another friend just happened to start talking to me about the fourth spiritual law of yoga, The Law of Least Effort.
We can most easily fulfill our desires when our actions are motivated by love, we expend the least effort and we offer no resistance. We tap into the infinite organizing power of the universe to do less and accomplish everything.
Turns out, early in the week I was resisting-the-crap out of serenity—left, right, up, and down.
-I was resisting asking for help: Micromanaging
-I was resisting lowering my standards: Perfectionism
-I was resisting saying “no” to others: Martyrdom
Concerning realization? The reason my life lacks serenity is because I resist making the changes necessary for peace. I’m constantly being called upon, and when I say, “no,” it’s often met with visible disappointment. The pressure to be there for everyone in my life is undeniable, but if I want more calm, I need stop resisting the solution.
As I take my little summer vacation off from writing over the next several weeks, I’m going to work on this. I’ll get back to you in the fall and let you know how it goes. Here’s to doing less and accomplishing everything!
See ya in the fall, Team~
