Strong Game Energy – My Personal Playboo

Listen to the podcast

Do you guys remember how last week we were chatting about people in our lives who feel they have the right to be our scorekeepers? Well, that got me thinking about how I try to approach my life using game terms. Now, this list could go on and on, but here are the top twelve.

Top 12 Ways I Want to Approach the Game of Life:

  1. Come to the field fit and prepared.
  2. Have a strategy, but allow the match to inspire my next move.
  3. Trust my teammates and play to everyone’s strengths.
  4. Lead with patience, compassion, and love toward myself and other players.
  5. Stay in my position unless help is needed.
  6. Play clean and walk away from controversy.
  7. Call a timeout before reacting.
  8. Don’t blame teammates when my game is off.
  9. Compete until the final buzzer.
  10. Let the replay teach rather than torment.
  11. Properly heal before returning to the field.
  12. Enjoy days off.

As I mentioned, I went a little crazy thinking of metaphors. I left ones out like: Leave your wildest pitcher in the bullpen until absolutely necessary and, Whatever you do—don’t draft drama. But of course, they’re still there in my head if I need ’em.

How about our TeamConfessioners—do you guys have any rules in the game of life that help you feel like you’re playing a strong match? Please share them with us in the comment section—I’d love to hear your input.

All this talk about games and scoreboards got me thinking. Is there a healthy way to analyze how things are going in my life—one that feels supportive instead of critical? Next week, I’m sharing a simple tool with my TeamConfessions subscribers that helps me do just that. I hope you’re able to tune in, and thanks so much for listening today, TeamConfessioners!
