Wrapping Season 9 – Rest, Rewinds, and a Little Summer Connection

Listen to the podcast

TeamConfessioners—can you believe we’re already finishing up another season? We covered a lot of ground this year, so here’s a quick recap in case you missed an episode and want to catch up before we dive into Season 10.

We talked about parenting, marriage, and embracing change. We leaned into themes like acceptance, trusting the world, and practicing what we preach. We unpacked the complexity of breakups, one-sided relationships, and people pleasing. We explored how to nurture ourselves through self-love and gentleness. We looked at what drives us with episodes on motivation, planning ahead, and managing expectations. We even got into the nitty-gritty with topics like complainers, manners, emotional texting, and martyrdom relapses. And of course, we talked about when to step in and help, when to step back, and how to handle big life challenges without losing ourselves in the process. Towards the end of the season, we talked about mothers, friendship, overcorrection, and yes—I finally figured out why I analyze pretty much everything! And in these last few weeks, we focused on settling into the lives we’ve built, gratitude, and fulfillment.

If one or more of those topics sounds interesting to you, please be sure to hop back and give it a listen before we head into Season 10 in September.

Now, you guys know how much I love to have a summer plan! This is the note I just found that I wrote myself in August of 2024.

Mags remember what worked last year: less phone, more rest, a little house organizing, and get back to work in August.

I want to thank August 2024 Mags for writing that note because June 2025 Mags definitely would have forgotten all of those things. I particularly love the reminder, ‘less phone, more rest’!

I have one more goal I’d like to add to my list for the summer that I’m going to share with all of you to hold myself accountable. My buddy and sound engineer Bill and I are planning to get some folks into the studio this summer for one-on-one interviews! I’m very excited about this because it’s been on my wish-list for quite some time. I have my list of possible interviewees going, but if you guys have anyone you’d like to suggest, I’d love to hear from you. Please be sure to comment or email me with your thoughts, but make it quick because we’re going to be recording in the next few weeks.

Now Team, I actually have some exciting news to share — especially for our female listeners. Next week, we’ll kick off our popular Summer Rewinds. But this year, the Confessions Summer Rewind series is teaming up with the C2 Community Call!

C2 Care Redefined, run by my friend Christine Toner (who you heard from back in April), hosts a weekly support and connection call for women. This summer, the C2 community will be using Confessions episodes to help spark discussions during their weekly calls. So if a Friday Summer Rewind really resonates with you, you’ll have a chance to share, reflect, or simply listen in with the C2 community the following Tuesday morning.

I’ll share all the details on how you can get involved in next week’s episode.

Now, for some thank yous before I leave you:

Thank you to Kelly Tonks who took every single photo of Mags this season that wasn’t taken in 1997—you are such a joy to work with and such a bright light in my life. Thank you to my sound engineer, Bill at TapeWorksInc., who’s not just the guy behind the glass — he’s someone I completely trust. He always makes recording feel less like work and more like catching up with an old friend. Driving an hour to the studio is nothing when you know you’re walking into that kind of energy. Thank you to my kids who are so encouraging of my work, and thank you to G Man Master De, who, if he had it his way, would never ever once be mentioned in a single one of my podcasts—I appreciate the sacrifice, Homey! (Doesn’t everyone want G Man to come in for one of those interviews?)

This year I have to deeply thank the people who submitted to the Summer Submission Campaign—the time you took to contribute was so incredibly helpful to me throughout the season, and I truly cherish the teamwork. Lastly, to my listeners and readers—your support of the show, along with your comments, texts, emails, and messages truly keep me going. And please, TeamConfessioners, contact me if there’s a topic you’d like me to cover or talk about more in Season 10—your input is very important to me.

Alright Team. Until then—less phone, more rest, and six rewinds to carry us through the summer starting next week. Thanks for listening!

I would love for you to join me as I work to undo these old patterns and evolve to create a more serene and accepting existence. (And you should know that I still want to ear flick the little knuckleheads {this includes my husband} when they don’t rinse a dish before putting it in the dishwasher — always a work in progress.)
