Forget It – What Forgetting Things on Vacation Can Teach Us

Listen to the podcast

When we go away, my husband often forgets things, and ya know what? It doesn’t phase him in the least. I didn’t even know that was an option before meeting him. I can go bonkers when prepping for a trip. I always want to remember everything I might need, while not packing one thing extra. The poor micromanaging-perfectionist-martyr on packing day.

Being adaptable is something I truly admire in others. I want to be adaptable and I’d love to model adaptability to our children. If I think of absolutely everything we’ll need while we’re away, I rob us of opportunities to practice flexibility and letting go.

Until, of course, it comes to things like passports—that’s when we thank God that opposites attract.

I would love for you to join me as I work to undo these old patterns and evolve to create a more serene and accepting existence. (And you should know that I still want to ear flick the little knuckleheads {this includes my husband} when they don’t rinse a dish before putting it in the dishwasher — always a work in progress.)
