The 3 Reasons I Become Intolerant

As we finish up our 16th week of COVID life, the topic of intolerance came up. Surprised?

As I see it, there are three reasons why I become intolerant.

  1. Self-Reliance: I’m simply trying to do too much myself. And I’m not reaching out for the help I need, be it physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual.
  2. Self-Righteousness: I think I know more and understand more than others about the ‘right way’ to do things, and the ‘right way’ to conduct oneself in the world.
  3. Self-Awakening: My heart is speaking to me in the form of unrest. My intolerance is my High Power’s way of pulling me towards something that needs changing. 

I’m not going to be useful to anyone if I’m overburdened. I’m also not going to be productive if I enter into an exchange thinking that I’m better than another person. And if I want anything to change, large or small, it’s best to work on those first two things before barreling onto the third.

Pretty sure I was complicating the bejesus out of this for a long time. All fixed.
