People Pleasing, Step Aside – This is a Woman who Stands in her Truth

Listen to the podcast

It’s nice to get approval from the people I love, but I have to remind myself from time to time that it’s not necessary. Everyone loves a people pleaser, right? I know I’m attracted to people who try to make me happy. But, I’m also attracted to strength. I’m drawn to women and men who, instead of always trying to keep the peace, set healthy boundaries, and stand in their truth.

This beautiful time of year marks another birthday, and another year of blog writing in the books (4 in total—whoot! whoot!) I’m going to celebrate that achievement by being more conscious of when I’m putting pleasing ahead of advocating for my own opinions, beliefs, and needs. I used to acquiesce because it was all I knew how to do—but, that’s not the case anymore. I’ve been taught how to administer some good ol’ fashion fortitude with gentle love and kindness. Now, my work is to speak up. And, if that makes someone else uncomfortable? Well, that’s really none of my business.

Ready to join me?

I would love for you to join me as I work to undo these old patterns and evolve to create a more serene and accepting existence. (And you should know that I still want to ear flick the little knuckleheads {this includes my husband} when they don’t rinse a dish before putting it in the dishwasher — always a work in progress.)
